Global subsea equipment specialist, Ashtead Technology, has further strengthened its non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection capabilities after securing international service agreements with two leading industry suppliers.
The first deal will see Ashtead partner with UK-based Cygnus Instruments to supply the most advanced ultrasonic flooded member detection (FMD) system currently on the market. The tool has been developed to carry out underwater inspections in challenging and hard to reach areas. It can be ROV or diver deployed and operate at depths of up to 300m.
In the second agreement, Ashtead has teamed up with Aquatec Group, the leading manufacturer of monitoring, measurement and communication solutions for the subsea industry. Ashtead will now offer the firm’s latest underwater leak detection system, which uses three field proven techniques - fluorescence, acoustic and thermal - to identify a hydrocarbon release.
The announcement follows Ashtead’s recent global collaboration agreement with Technical Software Consultants Limited (TSC), part of Eddyfi Technologies, which led to the expansion of the company’s NDT service offering across multiple markets.
Ashtead now boasts a fleet of 19,000 assets worth in excess of £100 million supported by 120 staff from its facilities in Aberdeen, Abu Dhabi, London, Houston and Singapore.
Allan Pirie, chief executive officer of Ashtead Technology, said: “Our customers increasingly expect us to deliver access to leading technology as and when it becomes available. Through these exclusive agreements, we will further expand our NDT and inspection capabilities globally, delivering the most technically advanced UT, FMD and leak detection systems on the market. “
A globally recognised market leader in the rental of specialist subsea technology, Ashtead offers a range of value-added services that includes asset integrity management, engineered measurement solutions, personnel support and training.
