| The ROV Magnetic Switch is used to hold objects and is not meant to be used for lifting purposes. A small paddle has been adapted to the unit, which is not a ISO 13628 handle but still easily manipulated with a 7 function manipulator. The unit has M6 tapped holes on the long edges of the unit to attach the magnet. Whilst the unit is small it has a significant direct pull force to separate it. The effectiveness of the unit is compromised by trying to get it to attach to thin metal, and by it being spaced away from the metal. If sea growth exists on the structure, it will lower the holding force significantly so if full strength is needed then cleaning of the structure will have to happen to ensure the magnet is as close to the metal as possible. |
