The Navigation Computer is a powerful, purpose-built PC that is used in conjunction with the Navigation Controller Unit (NCU). It has been specifically designed to run Sonardyne’s Pharos LBL software application. Features include a frontmounted software key port for when access to the rear of the unit is restricted by rack mounting or portable configurations.

The Type 8020 Navigation Controller Unit (NCU) is the interface between the acoustic instruments, sensors and the Navigation Computer. In addition to accurately time stamping incoming data from external devices such as GPS, the NCU also provides power and communications for ship-borne acoustic transceivers. By simply plugging I/F cards into the rear of the unit, the role of the NCU can be transformed from supporting simple to complex acoustic operations.

Pharos Survey is Sonardyne s entry level LBL software application. It provides basic transponder array calibration and tracking functionality and has been developed to support ROV positioning for survey and inspection operations. At the heart of the application is the Chart Display. This provides the operator with information on vehicle position, range lines, quality control data as well as vehicle guidance. The Chart also provides interactive access to configuration properties for all vehicles, transceivers, transponders, non-acoustic instruments and waypoints.
