Senior Buyer

Our Mechanical Solutions team in Inverurie, Scotland, UK have a brand new opening for a Senior Buyer to join their busy team. The successful applicant will manage the buying process, interfacing with suppliers on price and delivery. They will monitor the procurement activities for long-lead materials as required, as well as coordinating activities to ensure that critical goods and services are delivered to meet business requirements.
Key role functions
- Sourcing services and purchasing materials, using the most cost-efficient measures, in line with delivery schedules
- Liaising and negotiating with suppliers to achieve best value, delivery, performance, and payment terms
- Negotiate with suppliers on agreements for commonly used items
- Ensuring compliance of subcontract paperwork, particularly with QA requirements
- Reporting on vendor quality, including trend analysis of non-conformances
- Expediting purchased materials
- Identifying alternative sources of supply as needed
- Maintaining positive vendor relations
- Raising purchase orders with approved suppliers in a timely and cost-efficient manner
- Ensuring all materials and services are sourced, priced, and supplied to meet demands
- Liaising with colleagues and other departments for requirements, specifications, lead-times, and potential delays
- Supporting engineering on builds and QA process
- Supporting business improvement and cost reduction initiatives
- Assisting in the receipt of incoming goods and issuing of stock when required
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5 Years’ experience in a similar environment
- A track record of working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong negotiating skills with suppliers’ Strong sense of confidentiality
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure while managing deadlines
- Highly organised
