Challenge

The Cypre gas field, located in the Columbus Basin offshore Trinidad, lies at a water depth of 82 metres. As part of the Juniper platform development, a plan was introduced to upgrade the existing infrastructure by replacing two of the five flexible risers with larger lines to enhance capacity.

Ashtead Technology provided a tailored solution to meet the requirements of the project, supplying critical pull-in equipment and personnel to safely remove the two flexible risers from depleted wells, conduct a drift pull-in test and install two new flexible risers from the Cypre gas field into the
J-tubes on the Juniper platform.

Equipment and Personnel:
Supply of equipment, grillages and wire ropes for effective riser pull-in and installation, along with highly trained personnel for smooth project execution. Two technicians supported the initial mobilisation of equipment onto the platform, while a team of four technicians were assigned to each operational phase.

Equipment supply included:

  • 75 tonne WLL Zone II Hydraulic Drum Winch
  • 110kW Zone 2 Close Loop Diesel HPU
  • Sliding Spooling Base Frame
  • 2 x 50 tonne Fixed Overboarding Sheaves c/w 50 tonne Load Sensing Pin
  • Steel Grillage

Engineering Support:
End-to-end project management, engineering anddrafting services, providing technical expertise and support to execute the project successfully.

Testing:
Developing and implementing the appropriate method for pulling the load test, ensuring reliable performance under operational conditions.
