UCS Technology Open Day kicks off 2020 show season

Ashtead Technology’s global headquarters in Westhill, Aberdeenshire was the setting for four in-depth technology open days showcasing the capabilities of the company’s latest subsidiary, Underwater Cutting Solutions (UCS).

Delegates from industries across the subsea supply chain – including Subsea 7, Boskalis, Rever Offshore and Saipem – improved their knowledge and understanding of the UCS range of underwater cutting, dredging and coating removal tools with expert advice and guidance.

Live demonstrations were well-received by the audiences, which included a 22in diamond wire cutting display as well as an opportunity to see the MSD 2000 shear cutter in action.

Fraser Collis, UCS General Manager, said: “It has been a fantastic four days for UCS and Ashtead Technology. Not only have we had the opportunity to demonstrate our range of capabilities, we have gained insight into the challenges facing our diverse client base.

“Understanding the needs of our clients is key to growing our business internationally, with a particular focus on the provision of bespoke equipment to new markets such as the Middle East.”

The full complement of UCS products were on static display, encompassing all aspects of the firm’s service offering, with detailed Q&A sessions to discuss the day’s learnings over hot drinks and snacks.

A delegate from Rever Offshore, said: “The UCS personnel were very friendly, knowledgeable and provided a very polished presentation. It was very much appreciated that you [UCS] had organised a marquee so that we could watch the demonstrations, protected from the elements on what was a cold, wet and very windy day. The hospitality provided was excellent and appreciated.”

Recognising increasing demand for UCS products and services, UCS will be hosting a future open day in Abu Dhabi in March.
