Ashtead Technology Traineeship

Embark on a sea of opportunities with Ashtead Technology

Aberdeen

Are you fascinated by engineering and eager to turn your passion into a hands-on career? If you’re ready to dive into the world of subsea technology, learn from experts, and kickstart your career, we invite you to join our Survey & Robotics team as a Trainee Electronic Technician.

Our Survey and Robotics team provide cutting edge subsea technology, which is used in mapping the seabed, positioning subsea infrastructure, and conducting subsea inspections. Ashtead Technology are recognised as the underwater technology experts for the global offshore industry and are engaged in operations spanning across the entire energy sector. Offering a fully integrated service capability, we provide packaged equipment solutions for our customers for various applications, water depths and deployments.

Joining Ashtead Technology as a Trainee will provide you with a platform to gain practical experience, develop your skills, and explore career opportunities in the company, beyond your Traineeship.

Who should apply?

We are looking for candidates who either hold or are working towards an HND or HNC in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or Engineering Systems.

Your qualities:

  • A positive pro-active attitude
  • Curious and eager to learn
  • Ready to get stuck in
  • Enjoy solving problems

What we can offer

  • Practical, real-world experience allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge gained during your HNC/HND, to actual work solutions
  • The opportunity to develop and enhance your skills in the Survey & Robotics field, building a strong foundation for future career growth
  • Working closely with professionals who will provide a supportive learning environment where you can ask questions, seek guidance, mentorship and receive feedback.

What will your Traineeship look like?

You will start out working within our survey workshops where you will be trained in how to test, maintain, and repair our portfolio of 20,000 subsea assets. Ensuring our assets are maintained in a state of readiness is critical to our success and you will play a key role in delivering equipment to meet our clients requirements.

After developing competencies in the testing of equipment you may get the opportunity to attend vessel mobilisations, providing exposure as to how our equipment is configured and deployed from offshore vessels.

As part of your career at Ashtead Technology there may be possibilities to be seconded to any of our overseas offices for periods of time to assist the local teams, broadening your horizons and further developing your skill set.

In parallel with these opportunities there is scope to start working offshore, part-time initially to build your capabilities, before possibly becoming established as a full-time offshore survey technician.
