Based predominantly Offshore, the primary functions of the Offshore ROV Tooling Technician are to provide support for the offshore execution of ROV Tooling projects.

This role is responsible for supporting the mobilisation, operation, maintenance and demobilisation of ROV Tooling equipment on client vessels and onshore locations. This role is also responsible for assisting in technology development and continual improvement of equipment and services.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Offshore Survey Engineer to join our Survey & Robotics division, working in the UK offshore sector.

As Offshore Survey Engineer you are responsible for the installation, integration and commissioning of equipment on customer onshore and offshore sites. You will be able to identify issues with on-site equipment through diagnostic fault-finding, issue fault reports, complete first-line repairs, and prepare, test and package equipment for pre-deployment, liaising with the company’s worldwide facilities for second-line technical assistance where required.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a positive approach to tasks, able to thrive in a high-performing team environment. As an Ashtead Technology ambassador, you will provide excellent customer service and fully participate in all client site schemes for QHSE while deployed.

You will have an HNC/HND/Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5-years offshore experience in an offshore survey or ROV equipment support environment. A valid Offshore Survival (BOSIET/FOET) certificate is required.

We are looking to recruit experienced offshore survey engineers to support our growing offshore Asset Integrity services division. Successful candidates will be expected to travel worldwide supporting our customer base with the installation, operation and data collection from our inhouse designed advanced subsea monitoring and measurement systems.

The primary functions of this position are to undertake and be responsible for pre-mobilisation test and installation, operation and maintenance of AT and customer owned equipment on site. Also to act as first-line technical support and service to customers on-site.

Key Functions



  • Prepare, test and package equipment pre-deployment to Ashtead Technology (AT) standards and procedures
  • Installation, integration and commissioning of equipment on customer onshore and offshore sites
  • Identify, through diagnostic fault-finding, issues with on-site equipment and issue fault reports
  • Complete first-line repairs to equipment
  • Liaise with AT workshops worldwide for second-line technical assistance
  • Ensure all deployed AT assets are maintained and operated in accordance with manufacturer, AT and contract parameters
  • Track all AT assets, relevant to project, while deployed
  • Maintain records of changes to setup / maintenance carried out whilst deployed
  • Ensure that deployed equipment is stored correctly and safely, with all accessories
  • Act as AT ambassador, displaying excellent customer service, positive attitude and fully participating in any client site schemes for Safety, Quality, etc whilst deployed
  • Package equipment returning from the vessel suitable for transport requirements and fully documented / accounted for, notifying AT of any known damages in advance
  • Ensure timesheets are signed by the client prior to departure from the vessel / worksite
  • Complete end of project reports, timesheets and expense forms promptly upon return
  • To undertake tasks in the workshop as and when required
  • Adhere to Ashtead Technology’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and industry standards

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Mechatronic/ Electronic Engineering or proven track record of equivalent industry experience
  • Current Offshore Survival accreditation including valid medical
  • Previous subsea equipment experience
  • Previous offshore experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude – problem solver and team-worker
  • IT literacy
