LMA-300 Wire Rope Inspection System

LMA-300 Wire Rope Inspection System

Inspect wire ropes up to 83 mm with the LMA-300 Wire Rope Inspection System. Detect corrosion, wear and broken wires using advanced non-destructive testing technology.

The LMA-300 Wire Rope Inspection System is a portable electromagnetic testing solution designed for the non-destructive inspection of steel wire ropes up to 83 mm (3¼”) in diameter. Using advanced magnetic flux leakage technology, the system identifies and quantifies deterioration that may not be visible during a visual inspection, helping operators make informed maintenance decisions and improve asset integrity.

The system measures Loss of Metallic Area (LMA) to quantify corrosion, wear and structural degradation, while also detecting Localised Flaws (LF) such as broken wires and corrosion pitting. Its Wire Rope Roughness (WRR) analysis provides additional insight into internal rope condition, enabling early identification of deterioration before it develops into a critical failure. Designed for field use, the IP67-rated sensor head delivers reliable performance in demanding offshore and industrial environments.

  • Non-destructive inspection of wire ropes up to 83 mm (3¼”) diameter
  • Detects loss of metallic cross-sectional area (LMA) caused by corrosion, wear and rope degradation
  • Identifies localised flaws (LF) including broken wires and corrosion pitting
  • Wire Rope Roughness (WRR) analysis for enhanced assessment of internal rope condition
  • Accurate measurements independent of rope speed
  • Suitable for rope speeds from 0.03 to 3 m/s
  • IP67-rated sensor head for harsh operating environments
  • Portable, rugged design for offshore and onshore inspections
  • Supports preventative maintenance and condition-based inspection programmes
  • Reduces the need for unnecessary rope replacement while improving operational safety
