The mechanical lock open tool (LOT) is used in conjunction with the Oceaneering linear actuator override tool to lock Type A and and C subsea linear valves on subsea X-mas trees (XMTs) in an open position.
The tool can be used to maintain the valve in an open position for extended periods of time but can not be used to open the valve.
