| Barnacle busters, based on the Swirl-off range using DESMOND cutters, are a simple and efficient solution for the removal of barnacles and other tough encrustations on subsea surfaces, including steel and concrete. They are usually mounted on GR29 grinders.
During operation, rotation of the body creates a vacuum and thus suction to the surface, while still allowing easy movement in any direction. As the stainless knocker bars attached to the outer housing rotate, they demolish mussels, barnacles, and other heavy encrusted growth. The stainless steel cutter units then thoroughly scrape and chip off remaining material. This leaves a clean and tidy surface behind with no added chemicals involved. The tool itself is also essentially self-cleaning, due to the water flow. |
Available with regular (7×7 cutters) or large (7×5 cutters) heavy duty cadmium coated steel cutter sets. The units can be easily swapped or replaced. Spare cutting unit sets or single cutter sets are available on request.
