Wire Rope Inspection and Lubrication
We provide comprehensive wire rope inspection and lubrication services from our global locations to ensure your ropes operate at peak performance
Over time, wire ropes used on winches and cranes are subject to damage and fatigue. Effective rope management is essential to ensure that each rope remains fit for purpose throughout its operational life.
We offer:
- Detailed assessments by certified inspectors
- Advanced inspection techniques
- Magnetic Rope Testing (MRT)
- Full reporting, quantitative data and recommendations
- Quality assurance
- Effective lubrication
- Inspection of wire ropes up to 165mm

To ensure your wire ropes remain in optimal condition, it is essential to carry out regular inspections every 6 or 12 months (in accordance with Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, a legal requirement in the UK).
At Ashtead Technology our certified inspectors use advanced Non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies to assess both the internal and external condition of your wire ropes.
This detailed approach allows us to identify potential issues such as broken wires, corrosion and wear, loss of metallic cross-sectional area and any defects along the rope length.
To achieve a full inspection, the entire length of the wire rope must be accessible. Using our extensive global fleet of ACE spooling winches, we can safely and efficiently run the rope off the host asset and back again, allowing for a complete assessment of wire ropes up to 165mm.
Our services also include professional wire rope lubrication, which is essential to extend the lifespan of your ropes.
